Faces-TomJoeTom Joe
“Hops ‘r Better” Winer

Wine: Chenin Blanc
Type: White
Vineyard: Torre Di Pietra Vineyards

Golden apple on the intro is pronounced in this dry white wine. The midrange has citrus with grapefruit and a lingering finish.
“This is the Life” Winer

Wine: DAOU Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Type: Red, dry
Vineyard: DAOU Vineyards

Buy local or find it at

This wine is as spectacular as the view at DAOU Vineyards, full of rich creamy, mocha flavors and well balanced, long finished tannins.  You won’t be disappointed!

The “Timeless” Winer

Wine: Guardian Peak Shiraz 2013
Type: Red, Dry
Vineyard: Guardian Peak Winery (South Africa)

Buy local or find it at

Another lovely South African with that bright ruby color I love so much. In the nose, I caught hints of coffee, some spices I couldn’t quite capture and a touch of tobacco. On the tongue, plenty of luscious blackberry and plum. It was terrific with some friends seated around the fire and tales of daring and adventure were shared.

The “Hippy” Winer

Wine: Martini Asti
Type: Sparkling
Vineyard: Martini & Rossi Winery (Piedmont, Italy)

Buy local or find it at

This is a very nice wine that is good for any celebration that requires a bit of the bubbly. For us, it was the wine to toast the New Year and our 18th anniversary. Sweet, but not too. Hints of apricot and melon that slide easily over the tongue. Mmmm. I knew there was a reason for the flutes in the back of the cabinet.
