Review: Enoch’s Stomp Vineyard and Winery – TX

Official Review by The Traveling Winers

Enochs StompFrom the moment you enter Enoch’s Stomp Vineyard and Winery, you think “NOW THIS IS A VINEYARD!” The gravel road winding through the gentle rolling, vine-covered hills leads you to the welcoming tasting room and restaurant across the way.

Our first glimpse of the tasting center promised a first-class experience and we were certainly not disappointed. From the moment we walked in, Marla, the tasting room manager, welcomed us and throughout our 2 hour stay entertained us with tales of the transformation Enoch’s Stomp has enjoyed. She showed us where the new patio deck will be built and toured us through the cask room – fantastic!Enochs StompWe chatted briefly with Altus, one of the owners, who took time away from working his vines to shake our hands. We learned he is a 5th generation vintner and it was clear that he has brought the accumulated knowledge and passion of his family of working vines and making wine to Enoch’s.

After touring the winery facilities and buying not one, but two cases of wine, we went for a walk about the vineyard. We were all drawn to the log building across the road and Marla informed us it was the vineyard restaraunt which was unfortunately closed. It was beautiful and the view was just astounding. We got caught by Marla as we were turning the doorknobs on the front doors to ‘just take a quick peek’. Boom! Another tour of a strikingly old world dining area with the same wonderful views. She also told us that they had plans to build several guest cabins among the vines.

This establishment was a hands-down, unanimous “5-grapes” from all 4 “winers” in wine making, customer service, and the wine tasting experience as a whole! We were so impressed by this vineyard and winery that we’ve decided to call our wine trail this weekend ‘The Enoch’s Stomp Wine Trail”!

“Hops ‘r Better” Winer

Hmm… we brought a variety case… enough said! Okay, maybe not enough information for some people, so the labeling was great (I love a consistent brand!) and the quality of wine above par. I would say that this is one of the better wineries we’ve visited in Texas so far!

The “Hippy” Winer

I have to say this is the BEST wine I had ever tasted! My favorite was the award winning Blanc Du Bois Off-Dry, of which we bought several bottles. I am sure as I get better at this wine tasting thing I will have much better (and correct) terminology to describe the flavors but for now can say it was light but flavorful, and….well, let’s just say it went down way too easy!

“This Is The Life” Winer

Although I’m still not sold on the whole “sit-down at your own table” wine tasting experience, at this place it didn’t quite matter!  The wines were amazing as was the interaction with the staff and owner.  We had a ball!  I simply fell in love with their wine!  My favorites were the Cabernet, very dry, flavorful, and robust, and the Norton which apparently is the “Cabernet of the East”, also dry, full and yummy!

“Timeless” Winer

Each and every wine was clean and clear with flavors that ranged from velvety sweet to sharp and crisp.  The tasting lasted a bit longer than you would expect but that was due to the splendid company provided by the employees.

The Winer’s Experience

Felt like a vineyard, warm and fuzzy, exciting, professional, not a side gig – but a vineyard and winery Beautiful, picturesque, rolling hills, pond, old-world look Tasting conducted at private tables but there is a full length bar, large open tasting room, could accommodate a large group of people, newly constructed, clean
Excellent, superb, fabulous – everything a wine-tasting should be, started slow but had the perfect finish Oustanding, owner took time away from working the vines to meet with us, Marla spent two hours with us talking to us about the wines.  Couldn’t ask for anything better! Very good, knew the process, could keep customer engaged, understood how the wines were made
