Thirst for a Cause was an astounding success! This charity event hosted by Thirst Wine Merchants and the Oklahoma Hospitality Foundation in support of Oklahoma restaurant employees’ urgent medical expenses entertained Oklahoma wine lovers last Wednesday evening, August 16th. Tickets were $75 in advance or $89 at the door.
More than 40 wineries were represented from around the globe, including one of our personal favorites, Adelsheim Vineyards. And as I promised, I stopped by David’s booth to say my “hellos” and shake the Oregon legend’s hand.
Also showing off their talents were 12 different local restaurants serving snack sized items offering a taste of their original menus. My stomach was only able to make it around half of the room before it started shouting at me “I’m full! No more!”
The event was highly attended with several hundred Oklahomans milling about tasting wine, noshing on food, and chatting with friends and vintners about the wine.
A silent auction was conducted and from the looks of it, raised thousands of dollars. I was taken back with the generosity of my fellow Oklahomans for this needy population. Good on ya, Oklahoma!
We hope to see you there next year as this is an annual event and apparently quite successful. Follow Thirst Wine Merchants on Face Book to make sure you know when the festivities will happen in 2018.
