“I rated this wine an 80 in Quini with 10/10 for my opinion – you need to get your hands on this wine.Bright appearance, with full-intense aromas. A medium-bodied white. The finish is subtle-layered. An overall good Vermentino from the United States.”

Type: Red, dry

An intense red color with dark purple hues. On the nose, aromas of rich red berries and black currant, with hints of chocolate. It is a bold, expressive and exotic wine with soft tannins.

I was looking for an inexpensive ‘quick pick’ at the local booze-a-teria, when I spotted this one hiding in the pack.  The label reminded me of a Hungarian wine I had years ago that was plenty spicy and just full of itself (more on that one another time).  This was a winning pick with plenty of body and a good finish.  It really matched with the kebabs we had for dinner.  Alas, neither made it to the leftover section of the fridge.

This was a re-visit wine for me, having first tasted it at the beginning of my voyage through the world of wines.  The color was beautiful, the flavor as clean and robust as I recalled but, perhaps because of my experience, full of new subtleties.  It is an old traveling companion who has returned.
