Wine: 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon
Type: Red
Vineyard: Charles Shaw

Dull-bright appearance, with present-full aromas of spicy and fruity. A medium-bodied red with spicy and fruity flavors. The finish is layered-complex. An overall good cabernet sauvignon from the United States.Yes, I rated this a 68, but you know what, I still enjoyed the wine.

Wine: Beso de Vino Garnacha 2011
Type: Red, dry
Vineyard: Beso de Vino Winery (Spain)

A rich and dark, dark purple color that draws the eye.  The nose is very intense with cherry and blackberry, and a touch of pepper.  It is lively on the tongue with a bit of black pepper and licorice that comes to the fore after being in the air.  I found it intense with an excellent finish.

Wine: Red Truck Winery Red Blend 2014
Type: Dry, Red
Vineyard: Red Truck Winery (California)

I’ve seen this bottle a hundred times in our local wine store and, aside from admiring the label, never gave it a second glance.  We picked it up on a whim and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it.  We cracked it open with a few friends, served up the hard cheese and bread and just enjoyed the evening.  Very nice.

Wine: Frog’s Leap Merlot (375ML half-bottle) 2012  (Organic)
Type: Red, Dry
Vineyard: Frogs Leap Winery (California)

Buy local or find it at Wine.com

Really, just a classic Merlot that was filled with the scent of red fruit and the flavors of damp earth and sage. On the tongue, it was both smooth and strong but well balanced.  A terrific organic wine that went well with our baked chicken and, didn’t lose its appeal when we reached that lingering over the last mouthfuls stage.
