Wine: Pinot Noir
Type: Red
Vineyard: Van Duzer Vineyards

“Dull-bright appearance, with a present-full aroma of fruity. A medium-bodied red with fruity flavor. The finish is layered. An overall acceptable-good pinot noir from the United States. Rating this a 63 in Quini I still think that we can “get by”this week with this wine. It’s a smooth drink so if you’re just getting into wine, try this one and let me know what you think of it.”

Beautiful deep color with rich aromas of boysenberries and blueberries, full of the expected zinfandel flavors of spice and smoke.

Wine: Glen Carlou Grand Classique 2010
Type: Red, Dry
Vineyard: Glen Carlou Winery, South Africa

Buy local or find it at Wine.com

Another lovely South African, I may have to move there.  The wine displayed excellent color that was clear and eye-catching in the firelight.  In the nose, I picked up aromas of clove, sandalwood and fresh blackcurrant.  The tongue found each sip filled with the taste of ripe berries, some that remained a mystery despite what the label said.   The finish was very nice with just the right touch of oak.

Wine: Palacios Remondo Rioja Vendimia 2012
Type: Red, Dry
Vineyard: Palacios Remondo Winery (Rioja, Spain)

Buy local or find it at Wine.com

Now, this is what I am talking about.  The eye was caught by the bright purple color that was intriguing and seemed to say, ‘Hey you, don’t pass on this.  Smell.  Taste.’  In the nose and on the tongue I discovered dark berries, cherry and smoke.  I found it to be spicy but not too, and this helped carry the mildly sweet finish.  VERY nice.
