Traveling Winers Weekend Wine Picks

Faces-TomJoeTom Joe
“Hops ‘r Better” Winer

Wine: Pinot Noir
Type: Red
Vineyard: Ravines Wine Cellars

Buy local

“Bright appearance, with present-full aromas. A medium-full bodied Red. The finish is layered-complex. An overall excellent Pinot Noir from Ravines Wine Cellars in Finger Lakes, New York, USA.

If you’re a beer drinker, then take this wine out for a taste and let me know your thoughts. I rated this 75 in Quini but its medium body will suit those of us with discerning tastes! (and you’ll definitely impress your significant other!)

“This is the Life” Winer

Wine: Port 2006
Type: red, sweet, fortified
Vineyard: Two Rivers Winery

Buy local or find it at

Velvet, port goodness!  Smooth, rich, luscious texture.  Sweet but with some tawny characteristics.

The “Timeless” Winer

Wine: Yalumba The Scribbler 2011
Type: Red, Dry
Vineyard: Yalumba Winery (Australia)

Buy local or find it at

It fills the glass with the dark and rich red I like so much. The scent is full of earthy tones followed by plums, cedar and smoldering spices that promise a mouthful of flavor and perhaps, heat. The promise is kept. (The Scribbler. I have to tell you that when I saw this bottle I thought, ‘Hey, I’ve got a brother like that!’)

The “Hippy” Winer

Wine: Louis Jadot Pouilly-Fuisse 2013
Type: White, Dry
Vineyard: Maison Louis Jadot Winery (Burgundy, France)

Buy local or find it at

A lovely golden color that catches and seems to be one with the light. The scent is exquisite and leads you to that first careful sip. We had this served chilled with a soft cheese, grapes and wheat crackers. What a treat for the four of us. The tragedy of the evening was that we only had one bottle to share!
